Published by izoot on

This years festival is going to be the best yet and it will be something you want to attend especially if you never attended before! If you didn’t already know what this massive event is here’s a quick run down to get you up to speed. Lollapalooza is a yearly 4 day music festival that takes place in Chicago, IL in Grant Park. There’s a very wide variety of performances that include but aren’t limited to alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, and electronic music.

Lollapalooza provides an opportunity for non-profit and political groups and various visual artists to express themselves and causes. The music festival attendance has been more then 150,000 people each year. This is one of the best festivals of the year to be at and then there’s the added benefit of it being held in Chicago which offers a wide variety of music and theatre venues, an amazing selection of food to choose from, great museums and of course the Lake Michigan beaches … and of course Chicago’s residents who are some of the best folks in the country!

It was thought of and created in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction  lead singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band and ended up growing into the entity we experience ever since. Lollapalooza ran yearly until 1997, then was put on hiatus until it was brought back in 2003. From the beginning through 1997 and the first year back in 2003, the Lollapalooza festival toured North America.

Then in 2004, the festival committee decided to expand the event dates to two days per city, but unsatisfactory ticket sales caused the 2004 tour to be cancelled. In 2005, the festival management took on new partners who reinvented it into what we see today … a weekend destination festival in Chicago in Grant Park.

Lollapalooza bigger than ever this year, with more than 170 performances slated for eight stages on Chicago’s lakefront over the last weekend of July. A couple of the added pluses are is food from some 35 chefs and restaurants including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Plus Kidzapalooza is back this summer with free admission for children ages 10 and under!

Just a small handful of those performers this year are:
